Limit on roster moves?

You may be the only one from last year but others have in past years including myself.

The rule was geared towards nobody.

It doesn't really matter to me... 2 were over the limit last year, and Jim was right at 32. The year before about half the league was over the limit.

I don't want to change anything once the season starts, but I guess I could before Thursday. It seems like you are the most passionate about it, and maybe I could set the limit higher to reflect 2 a week. We had 18 weeks, so that is 36. I will make it a nice even number at 40.

This is a democracy, but we can also compromise. I certainly want to try to keep everyone happy. Even though everyone voted for 32, I am pretty sure people don't care about it that much to fuss over it being added to.

that's even worse lol. I'm fine with the 40 limit.

Above your post about money Ryan said he made the switch. It happened before the season started.

im with jim on this one jordan. i understand your point of view; however, this is not a rule that is specifically targeted at you. as ryan said, this is something that effects all fo us. the bottom line, is that more than 50% of the league voted one way. thats that. either way the vote would have gone, thats what the rule is.

and ryan, as the commish, you need to stand strong dude. the rule was set and there shouldnt be any changing of it. changing it week one is the same as changing it in the middle of the season. it is what it is and we all have to abide by the rules, whether we like them or not. one person having a negative opinion about something shouldnt be enough to change a vote that many had a voice in.

it's not like Ryan caved in completely. We still have limited roster moves. I still would rather have unlimited but since the league voted for limited then we still kept it. 32 is a low amount IMO, but 40 is a good middle ground.

Contrary to Todd's belief I didn't change it week 1. I changed it on September 7. Before any game was played. To me, changing anything is cool before the season starts.

I know what the vote said, but this was a situation where I thought a compromise was appropriate. Like I said in one of my previous posts even though we run a democracy, I still want to be sure that everyone is happy.

The formula I used to get the 32 moves was 2 a week. 2 per 16 week season. But we drafted 3 weeks before the season started, so using that very formula that bumps the number of weeks up to 19. 19x2=38. 38 moves was the new number, and I just decided to bump it up to a nice even 40 transactions.

I know you said end of discussion and everything, but how about this suggestion for next year. In another yahoo! league that I'm in we have waiver auctions. We have $100 (which should be more for our league maybe 150-200) that we can spend on waivers. So say Mike Vick threw for 3 touchdowns and ran for 3 touchdowns week one and he's on the waiver wire. Everybody has the chance to get him, but it just depends on how much $$$ you'd be willing to give up. I think it might be worth a try next year considering what everyone else thinks about it.

Is the money actual? How is it dispersed? Do you think that would happen with our league considering for one, how knowledgeble we all are and two, the very slim amount of talent left on the wire week to week? To me the extra money would only add extra headache and we would all be out of medicine. That of course is a METAPHOR! Oh!

no no no not actual money. fictional money lol. Think of it as monopoly money.

I like that idea...What if nobody else puts in a claim on that person? Do you still have to spend the money that you put up for them?

yes. that's just the thing. You can bet $1 for that person if you don't think anyone else will sign him. If you do think someone else will sign him then you will put in a higher bid.
